Understanding i-ELOOP
So, what if a manufacturer could find a way to run your electricals without making your engine work? What if your engine could be used solely to power your vehicle? Well, Mazda’s found the answer, and it’s called i-ELOOP.

Today’s automotive world is rife with technological advances and hi-tech gadgets that do everything from allowing us to lower and increase volume with the flick of a finger, to allowing our cars to park and drive themselves. However, some of the most intriguing and important technology out there is often the stuff we can’t even spot from the outside, and often what we don’t even realize is working beneath the shell of our vehicle.

Stepping Above the Competition

A great example of said type of technology is Mazda’s i-ELOOP energy-capturing technology that truly helps you keep your Mazda on the road longer with fewer stops at the fuel pumps.

Ever wonder how your vehicle is powering things such as your radio, air conditioning, windshield wipers, and heating? Well, usually, your car will use the energy produced by your engine (about 10%) to power your electricals. Sure, your battery helps a bit, but the majority of the power is coming from your engine, which is the largest source of power. Of course, that engine runs on gas, which runs out eventually and requires you to fill it up at a cost to you.

So, what if a manufacturer could find a way to run your electricals without making your engine work? What if your engine could be used solely to power your vehicle? Well, Mazda’s found the answer, and it’s called i-ELOOP.

Mazda created a unique regenerative braking system that creates electricity as you slow down, so no energy is wasted while you drive. Instead of charging or recharging a battery, the i-ELOOP system uses a capacitor to store kinetic energy for more efficiency.

Running Longer and Better Than Ever

What all this means is that your Mazda engine is just that: an engine. It’s being used purely for propulsion to get your car moving. Every ounce of gas you put into your Mazda vehicle is being used to drive the vehicle instead of powering the car’s internals (such as heat, radio, etc.). That’s a truly satisfying thought that all your hard-earned dollars spent at the pumps really are powering your vehicle and moving it forward instead of also helping you listen to your favourite tunes on the road.

Mazda’s i-ELOOP system is undetectable, and you’d never know it was working to help you be more fuel efficient and save money, which makes it all the more amazing and desirable. Mazda’s entered a whole new realm of efficiency with their i-ELOOP system.
